Program Overview:

The Norwich MEd program builds on years of experience so you can:
  • Make a positive impact on your classroom, school, community and business setting
  • Recognize that fundamental transformation is needed to address the challenges facing education
  • Take advantage of new opportunities, meet challenges and become a leader in education
  • Shape educational policy and ultimately the future of education

Program structure

  • Four start dates per year: March, June, September, or December
  • Six, six-credit, eleven-week seminars
  • Principal endorsement: earn a recommendation for principal endorsement by taking three one-credit internships which are aligned with the three six-credit seminars that comprise the administration concentration
  • Capstone residency experience
  • Complete all coursework in 18 months
  • Graduate 18-24 months from your enrollment date
  • Online, highly experiential, asynchronous curricular activities to include threaded discussions, reading,
    writing, and workplace-oriented assignments
  • Cohort-based system in which students travel through the degree program in groups of 12 to 15

    • Based on an innovative online format, the MEd allows you to study at your own pace and schedule.
  • No thesis requirement - learn by interaction and collaboration
    • The MEd program is based on experiential learning, which research has shown to be most effective with adult learners.
  • Acceleration - earn your MEd in as few as 18 months
    • Depending on your start date, you can complete the MEd program in less than two years.
  • Accreditation - ensure that your degree is from a recognized and quality institution
    • The MEd program is in the process of being reviewed for approval by the Vermont Standards Board of Professional Educators.
    • The MEd program is structured to address general competencies for school administrators and educational technologists as outlined by the Vermont Department of Education. The program also addresses the Standards for Advanced Programs in Educational Leadership developed by the National Policy Board for Educational Administration, and Standards for School Leaders identified by the Interstate Leaders Licensure Consortium.
    • Norwich University is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, Inc., through its Commission on Institutions of Higher Education.
