International Admissions:

Students and Faculty from almost every continent in the world are involved in our programs at the School of Graduate Studies. Our online, asynchronous delivery eliminates the challenges of time zones and borders, and we understand the unique needs of international students.

As long as you have an acceptable TOEFL score, official school transcripts indicating that you've completed the equivalent of a US bachelor's degree (with the GPA requirements for your specific program) and complete the steps outlined in the admissions process, your completed Application Package will be reviewed by our Admissions Department. For the admissions requirements specific to your program of choice, please visit the links below:

To apply for Admission with Norwich's School of Graduate Studies:
  • Conduct a personal telephone interview with an Admissions Advisor.
All applicants are required to complete a telephone interview. This will give you an opportunity to ask questions about Norwich University's School of Graduate Studies, and the particular program that you are interested in. This interview will also help determine if you have the necessary credentials to enroll in your chosen program before you initiate any other items required to complete the application process.

  • Complete Application for Admission.
Upon completion of your telephone interview, you can complete the Application Form with your Admissions Advisor. There is a $50 application fee, which must be paid in US dollars. Your Advisor will also outline the steps required to complete you Application package.
International applicants follow the same admission process as all other applicants to Norwich University. However, to ensure that all students are assessed on an equal basis, international students are required to provide the following additional information:
  • Submit an English proficiency assessment.
If your first language is not English (or if you graduated from a non-English speaking school), you will need to provide proof of English proficiency before you can be considered for admission. Official scores from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) for applicants whose native language is not English. The results must be sent directly to us by the Educational Testing Service. A minimum score may be required for your program. Students needing to take the TOEFL should contact TOEFL, Educational Testing Service, Box 6151, Princeton, NJ 08541-6151, USA. Visit Website (opens in new browser).

  • Submit official school documentation.
Applicants must submit a course-by-course evaluation of official transcripts for all post-secondary institutions contributing to your degree, which are not from the United States (this includes any credits given for military service or training). These documents should be sent to Norwich University directly from one of the two evaluation services outlined below:

    • American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO)
Any college/university credits earned for your undergraduate degree must be evaluated by sending:
      • Applicants must submit the transcripts where they earned their degree, as well as any additional transcripts with credits transferred into the final school from which the degree was earned. While final transcript listings include transferred credits, we require the original documentation for these credits. This includes any credits given for military service or training. Note: this is different from a WES evaluation in that AACRAO accepts photocopies.
      • If the transcripts are not in English, then a translation of the transcript must be provided.
      • Evaluation must be a course by course basis, and not a document-by-document. (statement of comparability)
      • AACRAO can be reached by telephone, +1.202.296.3359, by e-mail at oies@aacrao.org, or on the web. Visit Website (opens in new browser)
    • World Education Services, Inc. (WES)
Any college/university credits earned for your undergraduate degree must be evaluated by sending:

While final transcript listings include transferred credits, we require the original documentation for these credits. This includes any credits given for military service or training.
      • If the transcripts are not in English, then a translation of the transcript must be provided.

Financial Aid for International Students

Tuition and fees are payable in US dollars only. Student federal financial aid is only available to US citizens at this time, but other financial resource may be available to fund your education.

Employer Reimbursement

Many organizations offer tuition assistance to employees and, in some cases, provide 100 percent of tuition costs. Programs and policies vary among employers. Consult your Human Resources Department to learn more about tuition assistance at your organization.

Private Loans

For alternative loans, International students may be eligible for the following:

Loans that Require a Co-Signer:
  • TERI
    1-800-255-8374
Visit Website (opens in new browser)

(The Education Resources Institute) TERI is a non-profit organization that helps you access various private lending institutions for funding your education. TERI offers loans based on good credit, with no income limitations. You would most likely qualify for a PEP (Professional Education Plan) which is designed for graduate programs. Your first payment towards the loan would start 6 months after graduation. Usually TERI would like to see applicants committed towards applying to a school before taking on loan applications. You will have to go through this process with and Admissions Advisor in order to qualify for their financial aid.

  • Access Group

This loan company offers loans similar in structure to TERI.
  • Citibank CitiAssist Loan
    800-967-2400
Visit Website (opens in new browser)

CitiAssist® Loans are available to full and part-time graduate students attending accredited graduate schools. International students must apply with a creditworthy individual who is a US Citizen or permanent resident and has a permanent US address. Visit Website (opens in new browser)

  • Sallie Mae Signature Loan
Visit Website (opens in new browser)

International students and those students with no credit or an insufficient credit history will need to apply with a credit-worthy co-borrower. It is to your advantage to apply with a co-borrower because your co-borrower's credit determines the interest rate and fees. And after you've made 24 consecutive on-time scheduled payments of principal and interest, you may apply to have your co-borrower released. (Student borrowers must meet applicable credit requirements at that time.) Co-borrowers must be US citizens or permanent residents, and provide proof of all sources of income. We always recommend you apply for financial aid immediately and to continue with pursuing your graduate application at the same time.
