It has been another exciting, activity-filled year for Norwich University. Norwich made the news on the local, regional and national stages with stories varying from the band performing at the Inaugural Parade in Washington, DC, to the start of the largest capital campaign in the history of the University.

In Africa, forty percent of youth over the age of fifteen are illiterate. And while Northfield may be a long haul from the world's poorest continent, Norwich University students are doing something about it.

Family, friends and coworkers gathered in White Chapel to remember Norwich University employee, graduate student and former hockey captain, Michael Serba. Times Argus staff writer Peter Hirschfeld attended the service and recorded the events, which can be found on The Times Argus' Web site.

Ryan Swalls ’03 was not prepared for whom he might run into while visiting Norwich to hear the former Ambassador to Africa, William Harrop, speak on Nov. 15 during International Education Week.

Associated Press reporter Wilson Ring spent time on The Hill recently talking to students and faculty about a documentary focused on Vermonters killed in Iraq and Afghanistan that the students are producing as a class project. It's a slow day at the Northfield Boys & Girls Club on Main Street. Only twenty kids have shown up in the fifteen minutes since school let out, instead of the usual thirty-five or so.

On Nov. 11, 2005, sophmore Andrew Chobanian was “just one of the crowd” marching in Norwich University’s annual Veterans Day parade. This year, however, was different for the 20-year-old Hanover, N.H. native.
- Branching out: senior cadets receive their military assignments

The afternoon of the first of November was abuzz with anticipation as students, faculty, staff and parents milled about inside a packed White Chapel awaiting the announcement of branch assignments for the 61 senior Army ROTC cadets.

"Where did you get this guy or gal?" is a familiar refrain heard by Ed Shyloski '66 when he hires Norwich graduates to work in his engineering company, Shaw, Stone & Webster.
